One Just person stands before God and asked the question of “why do I have to suffer?” The question of why the innocent suffer is real, poignant and must be addressed. This presentation equips all the listeners to understand the depth and breadth of the problem of suffering and what God’s revelation teaches us about this ultimate question.
The greatest impact of the book, however, has been on suffering believers throughout the ages. Every human being must wrestle ultimately with the questions raised by this work and the reality of suffering in a world created by a good and just God. Job loses his property, his children and his health. He curses the day he was born and the day he was conceived.
Job’s encounter with God, however, helps him understand that he is asking a question that can never be answered because of Job’s own finite intellect. Nevertheless, God draws Job’s attention to the beauty and grandeur of the universe and assures him that he is never alone in his suffering.
