Rev. Bleichner has lived through decades of changes and challenges and understands the hurts, sorrows and joys of priest everywhere.
The rites, rituals, symbolism, and the very role of the priest have undergone profound changes since Vatican II. In North America the priesthood has been rocked with scandals that have weakened in many cases the bond between priests and bishops and has undermined the prestige that priesthood once had.
Rev. Bleichner draws upon his many years as a priest and a seminary professor and to outline ways for the priest to cope with this new situation. He addresses the role of priest as minister of the word and sacraments of the Church. He stresses the need for simplicity of life for the priest where a person has a true sense of vocation that is a great gift that holds everything together. Newly ordained and veteran priests as well will come away from listening to this program with a sense that here is a man who has spoken words that they needed to hear and exposed them to ideas that will revive and strengthen their spirits.
