This is a concise, classic compendium of the documents of the Catholic Church which define the Christian faith as understood by Catholics. It includes the creeds of the Church from the earliest times along with all the major extracts from all the important decrees and declarations of councils, popes, and Vatican congregations down through the ages touching on matters of faith and Christian living. This volume is fully updated through to 2000. All these documents have been organized in chronological order under themes, each with a helpful introduction and outline, so that developments in teaching the faith, and the concerns of theology and authority at various periods in the history of the Church become fully apparent. Indices and Tables enhance the value of this unique collection for professors and students of Church history and theology. An indispensable aid to every serious student of theology.
