Este Diario es una de las joyas espirituales del siglo XX que ha heredado el Nuevo Milenio. La reconocida Santa María Faustina, una joven monja polaca, sencilla y sin instrucción (1905-1938), recibió un llamado muy especial de Jesucristo: "Te envío a todo la humanidad con Mi misericordia; no quiero castigar a la humanidad doliente, sino que deseo sanarla, abrazarla a Mi Corazón misericordioso". Jesús también le pide que escriba Su mensaje de misericordia en un Diario: "Tú eres la secretaria de Mi misericordia. Te he escogido para este cargo…". Sor Faustina fue canonizada por el Papa Juan Pablo II el 30 de abril de 2000.
