From the time of his conversion soon after the Resurrection of Jesus until his own martyrdom, Paul’s thought and theology constantly developed and matured. Prior to his death Paul confronted the question of the place and role of Jesus in the cosmos. He experienced Jesus as his own source of grace and then was challenged to reflect on the place of Jesus in all creation. Paul proclaimed that Jesus does not fit into the worldview of the Ephesians and Colossians: rather Jesus is the worldview.
During this week we trace the Biblical theology of creation, from Genesis to the summit of Paul’s mature theology as found in the letters of the Ephesians and Colossians. It has been said that this is the theology behind the Second Vatican Council!
