Isaiah is more than a prophet. He’s a phenomenon. Without him, we could hardly celebrate the seasons of Advent and Lent. Handel’s Messiah and a god share of memorable hymns could not have been written.
This 8th century B.C. seer not only had the longest-running ministry of any Hebrew writing prophet, he also inspired ensuring generations to contribute to his school of thought about what’s on God’s mind. By looking at the age of writing prophets, the biography of Isaiah, the generations of Isaiah writing, and the influence these text have on our understanding of God, we can appreciate how one man expanded our notion of who God is and what God wants from us.
