Immediately after hearing this program, the listener will feel like reading the Gospel from beginning to end and be on fire to share its unique story with family, friends, the believing community and the world.
The Gospel of Luke is featured in the liturgical cycle every three years but scholars are finding new treasures in this inspired writing everyday. From Zachariah’s vision in the temple, to the Passion, death and resurrection, Sr. Reid brings a fresh slant on all the episodes and parables we think we know so well This presentation will enrich even the most informed listener and will renew in preachers and teachers a love and enthusiasm for this magnificent gift of the spirit that is the Gospel of Luke.
Sr. Reid invites the listener to walk with Luke during the next liturgical year and especially to notice how the marginalized and the poor play such a large role in the story of Jesus. She challenges the listener to ask the questions what is it to be a preacher, a catechist, an evangelizer, a lecturer, a minister of the Eucharist or a faithful hearer of the word in the pews every Sunday. She points out that the image of Jesus as prophet occurs more in Luke’s Gospel then any other gospel and invites the listener to boldly embrace the life and message of Jesus. That life and that message is one of hope and hope is what individuals, the Church and the world needs most desperately.
