Christians have always perceived the Jesus of the Gospels personally — and differently. Using the insights of Psychological Type (originated by Carl Jung and applied by Isabel Myers), this book highlights the characteristics of Jesus as perceived by the early Christian communities in the four Gospels. In those communities, Jesus was all things to all people, outgoing, introspective, down-to-earth, a visionary, a man of justice, a man of compassion.
The same is true for us today. This book has been written to enable readers to be affirmed and challenged by this Jesus of the Gospels, to understand better how each of us responds to him as well as how we might pray more deeply.
The Same as Christ Jesus looks at the Gospels and finds the particular perspective of each community in remembering and writing of Jesus: the ‘eyewitness’ style of Mark, the ‘authority’ of Matthew, the ‘humanity’ of Luke, the ‘mystery’ of John. It also offers a sketch portrait of the Jesus of each Gospel. These insights are linked with the language and understanding of Type.
This book will be of help to Scripture study leaders, liturgists, preachers, retreat and spiritual directors as well as for personal reflection and prayer.
